Paris haute couture – Alexis Mabille winter collection for 2010/11

Mabille’s latest collections in there are many models catwalk in this Paris haute couture season, turned the Angelina tea rooms on the rue de Rivoli into a temporary atelier. A dozen exquisite pieces were displayed on mannequins, which provided a rare chance to examine the detailed workman ship and handcrafted techniques up close.

Mabille’s winter 2010 collection focused on the idea of couture “separates”, as in a loose “corolla” top, tied on the shoulder with bows, embroidered with scrolls and flower appliques with a fine under layer of micro sequins, which could be worn with a cotton ballerina skirt, trimmed with black ribbons and more simply, with slim black trousers.

These winter collection in people love his “frou frou’ blouse in palest peach silk organza, with “mille feuille” sleeves in a cloud of petal pleated organza and lace and a tracey of bow embroidery, one of Mabille’s signatures. The most glamorous pieces was a black silk velvet gown, with an elaborate bodice, embellished with cornelli embroidery in silver and gold, with a flourish of pale pink silk orchids, on each shoulder, a motif which was then scattered over the skirt.
